Filmdirecting4women is a company run by women directors for women directors. Since September 09 we have been running women only directing workshops and now have a variety of other exciting developments on offer(see below) including our very first International film festival.

Our overall aim is to see 50% of the world’s films directed by women. Currently this fluctuates between an abysmal 6% and 9%. Although we recognise that much of this is due to the glass ceiling women directors’ face in the industry we believe this is only part of the story. The other part being the lead ceiling in our own heads telling us we can’t do it.

Our aim at filmdirecting4women is to attack on both fronts! Gone are the days when it is acceptable to have the vast majority of what we see on the screen being told from a male perspective.

And gone are the days when we can back down from the challenge of directing due to lack of faith in ourselves and our ideas. We believe that more stories about women and from a woman’s POV are absolutely crucial to the health and well-being of our planet!!
